A missed period is the most common indicator that you might be pregnant, but it’s not the only one! Other common symptoms include: Frequent Urination, Nausea, Breast Tenderness , Dizziness , Change of Appetite. A medical pregnancy test and ultrasound are offered by Sean O. Henry, MD.

Prenatal Care: Prenatal care is medical care provided by Sean O. Henry, MD’s Obstetricians for women both before and during pregnancy and it is crucial care to ensure the health of your baby, your pregnancy, and you.   Prenatal care can help detect and treat any issues if they arise, prevent delivery complications, and ensure a safe delivery.  By being up to date on the latest medical literature and technologies, Sean O. Henry, MD’s NYC prenatal care has resulted in a reduced number of maternal deaths, miscarriages, and birth defects.  During a pregnancy there will average around 13 visits to the office.

Monitoring Fetal Development: When you are pregnant, it is extremely important for your OBGYN  to monitor the growth and development of the fetus. This is done by allowing you to see the fetus with ultrasound technology.  Your OBGYN can monitor your baby’s growth and movement, follow it’s heartbeat, and even tell you your baby’s sex.  Monitoring fetal development  also allows your obstetrician  to detect prenatal problems before they may arise.

Routine UltrasoundsSean O. Henry, MD performs routine Obstetrical ultrasounds on-site in our NYC office. Most Obstetrics patients have a confirmatory ultrasound between 6 and 8 weeks. Anatomy scans will also be recommended during your pregnancy. Other ultrasounds may also be performed as indicated by your OBGYN during your pregnancy.

Vaginal Delivery: A routine vaginal delivery is commonly performed by  our Sean O. Henry, MD’s obstetricians. Full term deliveries are performed once your pregnancy reaches the 37th through 42nd week of your pregnancy.  Labor may begin on its own, or can be induced by your obstetrician  by rupturing the amniotic sac or administering labor-inducing medication. Labor may last many hours, during which time a laboring woman’s obstetrician can offer pain management options.

Cesarean Delivery (C-section) / Vaginal Delivery Births:  Sean O. Henry, MD offers you the option to have your baby delivered via vaginal delivery or Cesarean Delivery (C-section) if needed.  Our obstetricians deliver at the top -rated delivery center at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in NYC.

VBAC – Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Delivery: Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) delivery is the vaginal birth of a baby after a woman has already had a Cesarean delivery of a previous baby.  In the past, once a woman had undergone a Cesarean delivery, all subsequent babies were automatically delivered via Cesarean Section.  However, largely due to changes in surgical technique, this is no longer the case and unnecessary. The obstetricians of Sean O. Henry, MD in NYC are happy to deliver your baby via VBAC.

Dilation & Curettage (D&C): A dilation and curettage procedure, (D&C) is a surgical procedure in which the cervix,  the lower, narrow part of the uterus, is expanded or dilated.  After dilation, the cervical canal and uterine lining can be emptied by the NYC OBGYN to remove a sample that will be examined. A D&C may be used as a necessary diagnostic procedure for a nonviable pregnancy (miscarriage) to help your  obstetrician determine the cause.
